Florida's state flower is the orange blossom and its state fruit is the orange. Both oranges and orange blossoms appear on state license plates and the state is famous nationwide for the high quality of its oranges.

The current state flag consists of the circular state seal on top of a diagonal cross. The new state emblem takes the place of the visually complex state seal while the overall form of the current flag is preserved.
