Wyoming's current flag features a prominent buffalo silhouette and its state mammal is the American Buffalo.

The current flag is one of only two in the union to feature a plain field surrounded by a border. As with the new flag of West Virginia, Wyoming's new flag trades its state seal for the new state emblem but maintains its distinctive bordered field.
